Rainforest carbon projects with Renoster
Overview

Renoster is a pioneer in providing deep transparency for rainforest carbon projects, on a mission to bring clarity and trust to carbon markets through intuitive, actionable carbon credit ratings grounded in rigorous scientific principles. I partnered with the Renoster team to design a comprehensive Figma system and build a robust Webflow website that elevates this work.

The Webflow site features interactive metrics, detailed project reviews, and content sections that empower users to make confident, informed decisions about their carbon investments. The Webflow CMS underpins the project ratings and editorial content, giving Renoster a scalable publishing layer for new sustainability data as their methodology and coverage expand.

The result is a digital presence that reflects Renoster's commitment to precision and credibility in environmental stewardship, with a Webflow website that ensures their impactful contributions to carbon market integrity are widely recognised and accessible.

The Problem

The carbon credit market has a credibility crisis that threatens its entire reason for existing. Buyers, from corporate sustainability teams managing net-zero commitments to individual investors seeking climate impact, struggle to distinguish between carbon projects that genuinely sequester carbon and those that overstate their impact. Without transparent, scientifically rigorous ratings, the market risks losing trust with the very stakeholders whose capital is essential to scaling nature-based climate solutions. The problem is not that good projects don't exist; it's that buyers can't reliably tell which ones are good.

Renoster had developed a genuinely rigorous methodology for rating rainforest carbon projects, grounded in remote sensing, ecological science, and transparent scoring that makes the evidence behind each rating visible and auditable. But their website was essentially an academic placeholder. It didn't communicate the depth of their science, the usability of their ratings, or the urgency of what they were building for carbon markets at a moment when the world is watching.

The stakes were higher than a typical SaaS marketing site. Renoster's credibility depends entirely on being perceived as scientifically authoritative rather than marketing-driven. Every design decision had to reinforce precision, transparency, and rigour. A site that looked like a slick startup would undermine the very trust Renoster needed to build. But a site that looked like a research paper would fail to engage the buyers who need to use these ratings to make decisions.

The Build

I partnered with the Renoster team to design a comprehensive Figma system first, working through how to present complex carbon ratings data in a way that feels intuitive rather than overwhelming. The design language uses clean typography, data-dense but scannable layouts, and a nature-informed colour palette that references forests and earth without becoming sentimental or decorative. Every component was designed to make the science accessible without compromising its integrity.

The Webflow build features interactive metrics and detailed project review pages that let users explore Renoster's ratings methodology and individual project assessments at their own pace. I built the CMS to underpin project ratings and editorial content, giving Renoster a scalable publishing layer. As they rate more projects and publish methodology updates, the team can add content through the CMS without structural changes to the site.

Performance and accessibility were treated as credibility signals. A slow or inaccessible site would undermine the trust Renoster is trying to build. I focused on fast load times, clean semantic markup, and responsive layouts that work for researchers on desktop as well as field partners and investors checking project data on mobile from anywhere in the world.

The Outcome

Renoster now has a digital presence that matches the rigour of their science. The site projects authority without being inaccessible, and the interactive project ratings give buyers a concrete reason to explore, compare, and return. Investors and corporate buyers arriving at the site encounter clear, transparent data that helps them make confident decisions about their carbon investments.

The Webflow CMS means Renoster can scale their content as their ratings coverage expands. New project assessments and methodology documentation are published through a structured system the team manages directly, without developer bottlenecks slowing down their publishing velocity.

The site positions Renoster as the credible, science-first voice in a carbon market that desperately needs one. In a space crowded with vague claims and green marketing, a digital presence built on transparency and rigour stands out immediately to the buyers who are serious about climate impact.
