Charity website design with Webflow.

I design charity websites around the people supporting your work: understanding the cause, making a donation or starting a partnership. The publishing setup should also fit the team keeping it current.

The page has a job to do

Make supporting the work
a clear next step.

Help donors and partners choose a route

For charity website design, giving, learning and partnership enquiries need clear journeys. Explain the work, what support enables and who will respond.

Make updates possible for a small team

Give staff practical templates for projects, field reports, news and approved documents. Agree owners and a cover process so essential information stays current.

Planning the supporter journey

A donation journey
you can check.

A donation button is only the first handoff. Agree which provider handles payment, which confirmation returns to the supporter and who investigates a failed or incomplete journey.

The worked worksheet below combines donor and partner journeys with an example URL map. It is planning material to adapt with your team and provider.

  1. Understand

Explain the cause and the useful next actions before handing someone to a separate service.

  2. Hand off

Make the approved donation-provider route, confirmation and return path clear.

  3. Follow up

Name who checks acknowledgements, receives enquiries and recovers a failed handoff.

Illustrative planning steps, not Wildlife Vets International payment-test results.

Make the connections useful

Less copying.
Better handoffs.

Keep the donation, enquiry and publishing responsibilities clear. I can scope the website handoffs around the providers and people your charity already uses.

Talk through your setup

Donation service handoff

Keep payment handling with your approved donation service. Plan the route from the website, acknowledgement and staff ownership around its supported setup.

Discuss the website scope

News and project publishing

Give field reports, projects and approved documents a manageable CMS structure, with clear owners and a way to keep reused information current.

Explore website management

Supporter and partner enquiries

Agree which answers the receiving team needs and where they go. Test delivery and failures using fictional details before the public launch.

Explore CRM connections

A charity website launch review

Use this alongside the worked donation and migration worksheet. Name the owners and keep evidence of the journeys checked.

A practical starting point

Charity donation journey and migration worksheet

Map how someone gives, learns about the work or reaches the right person. Keep the corresponding old URLs, owners and launch checks beside each journey.

Completed fictional charity example. The paths and roles below are not Wildlife Vets International’s migration records or payment tests.

Support the work

Example destination
/donate → approved donation service
Owner
Fundraising lead
Acceptance test
Complete a provider-approved test; check acknowledgement, receipt and the return link.

Become a partner

Example destination
/partner-with-us → named team inbox
Owner
Partnerships lead
Acceptance test
Submit fictional organisation details and confirm who receives and answers them.

/news/project-a

Example destination
/updates/project-a
Owner
Content editor
Acceptance test
Test the planned permanent redirect to the matching story rather than the homepage.

/resources/report-a.pdf

Example destination
Retained file or agreed replacement
Owner
Document owner
Acceptance test
Check the document link, title and version using a phone and keyboard.

Donation service unavailable

Example destination
Clear notice and another contact route
Owner
Website support owner
Acceptance test
Check an unavailable provider separately from a declined or cancelled payment.

Use this with your team

  1. Choose the main supporter and partner journeys before listing every page.
  2. Replace the example paths with current URLs and agreed destinations. Keep a named owner for the donation provider and each content group.
  3. Use provider-approved test methods, then test important old links, documents and enquiry delivery on the public domain.

Google: site moves with URL changesUse a URL map and test the actual redirects when moving existing content. Search processing and traffic changes still need observation after launch.

Before we get started

A few useful
questions.

What charity website work can I see?

The Wildlife Vets International case shows a WordPress-to-Webflow rebuild I led while at Wired on Design, including blog migration, CMS structure and a donation-platform connection. The worksheet on this page is a separate fictional planning example, not that client’s payment or migration records.

Can we keep our existing donation platform?

We can review its supported setup, the access available and the handoff you need before changing it. The public website can explain the cause and lead to an approved provider; payment processing, receipts and supporter support need clear owners.

Does our charity need a complete website rebuild?

A clearer donation route, a publishing improvement or a focused migration may be enough. I start with the existing content and the tasks supporters and staff find difficult, then scope a useful change.

Can staff maintain the website after launch?

I can organise reusable pages and CMS fields around the updates staff make, with a practical handover and cover arrangements. We agree which changes are editorial and which need continuing design or development support.

Your next chapter

Let’s make
it clearer.

Share the current charity website, its main supporter journeys and the content that is hardest to maintain. We can shape a rebuild or a focused improvement around the work that needs doing.
